Building a house can sometimes be a pain in the neck, but it can also be a lot of fun. For us this has been the fun kind - so far. Choosing colours, planning gardens and letting our imaginations run wild. It's very easy to be carried away with the excitement of it all, as if that's all that matters in life. But there's a thought that keeps coming back to me while all this is going on. Here it is:
"Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain." Psalm 127v1This verse has reminded me over and over again that my life is like a house under construction (or more accurately re-construction). For me to pursue anything - whether it's a new home or a career or a relationship - without God, is simply futile. And it doesn't mean I just need to get God to rubber stamp what I want. It means I need to work on what God is already working on, because that's the only guarantee of ultimate success. Life's too short to waste energy and resources on things that don't matter to God. So the Bible is telling me not to set my goals, my dreams, my priorities by what everyone around me says and does, but by what God says and does.

Fabulous Steve! It's all looking just great and what lovely surprises popping up around you. My priorities are hopefully hearing from God Himself and gratefully allowing Him to point me in the right direction. My directions are often "Go Back" "You are going the Wrong Way" he he! We must all soldier on, but sometimes I just want to gaze into the night skies and dream about the Rapture, that incredible moment which is not far away. What about you?
